2014 Formula 1 Grand Prix Of Canada – June 6th-8th, 2014 @ Montreal
On June 8, novice Red Bull driver Aussie Daniel Ricciardo unexpectedly won his first Formula 1 race, the Grand Prix of Canada, in an exciting race witnessed live by Formula 1 fans packing the grandstands and grounds around Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Île Ste-Hélène in the St. Lawrence River in Montreal. By doing so, he is the only non-Mercedes driver to finish first on the Formula One 19-race circuit this year. Mercedes’ NicoRosberg came second while fellow Red Bull driver, former and four-time F1 champion, Sebastien Vettel, placed third on the podium. Force India’s Sergio Perez and William’s Felipe Massa were dueling for fourth place during the final lap of the 70 lap race when they were involved in a horrific crash. Miraculously, neither driver sustained any serious injuries. Race co-favourite Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton had to retire earlier in the race due to mechanical issues.
