Canada’s Walk of Fame (canadaswalkoffame.com), celebrating Canadian excellence and inspiring the next generation, has chosen as its mission to engage Canadians in celebrating those who have excelled in music, sport, film, television, as well as the literary, visual, performing arts, science and innovation.

Jason Priestley, a true Canadian ambassador, consummate entertainer/actor and beloved television icon, played host of the 2014 Canada’s Walk of Fame Tribute Show. Priestley, who is never shy to express his homegrown pride and Canadian heritage, was the impeccable host to the following remarkable individuals who will join Canada’s Walk of Fame’s long list of celebrated Canadians, bringing the total number of inductees to 157: Louise Arbour, Former Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and International Lawyer; The Band (including Robbie Robertson and Garth Hudson), Musicians; Jeff Healey, Musician; Rachel McAdams, Actor; Ryan Reynolds, Actor; and Hayley Wickenheiser, Athlete. In addition, the show honoured the newest musical sensation The Weeknd, the recipient of the Allan Slaight Award, which recognizes the achievements of young Canadians who have the ability to turn their talent into inspiration.

The powerhouse list of celebrity presenters included Canadian actor Jay Baruchel, honouring Rachel McAdams; critically acclaimed actress Wendy Crewson, honouring Louise Arbour; broadcaster Jian Ghomeshi, honouring Ryan Reynolds; music legend Ronnie Hawkins and actor Peter Fonda, honouring The Band; six-time Olympic medalist Clara Hughes, honouring Hayley Wickenheiser and JUNO Award-winner Tom Cochrane, honouring Jeff Healey, the recipient of the posthumous Cineplex Legends Award.

The Tribute Show attendees at the Sony Centre for Performing Arts were in for an unforgettable night with show-stopping rousing musical tributes. Canadian musicians The Treasures, platinum-selling singer-songwriter Bobby Bazini and the Barenaked Ladies’ Kevin Hearn took the stage for a special musical tribute to The Band. R&B singer Sean Jones, drummer Sekou Lumumba, JUNO Award-winning bassist Calvin Beale, musician Justin Abedin, songstress Quisha Wint and blues guitarist Jimmy Bowskill performed a moving tribute to Jeff Healey.

The two-hour 2014 Canada’s Walk of Fame Tribute Show, to be broadcast on Global on December 19, 2014, demonstrated that all Canadians can be doubly proud of the achievements of the these talented, super congenial, and accomplished yet humble Canadians.
