The CLGA(Canadian Lesbian+Gay Archives)2nd Annual Disco Gala was held at the Reference Library on Saturday night. Founded in 1973, the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives has become the largest independent LGBTQ+archives in the world.
It was a night of Mirror Balls, platforms, bell bottoms and sequins as 1979 returned to the Toronto Reference Library. Hosted by Vancouver drag sensation Symone Says, the celebratory evening boasted live entertainment, dinner, live auction and a full-out disco dance party til the wee hours of the morning. The who’s who was in attendance on Saturday Night: Designers-Glen/David Dixon, Enza Anderson, Musician Michelle Ross and politician Kristyn Wong-Tam
Hundreds of disco-clad guests entered the fully transformed salon to enjoy a cocktail reception while exploring the many event offerings including a dress-up photo booth, archival displays, silent auction and 50/50 draw. Following the reception, attendees enjoyed a gourmet dinner provided by à la Carte Kitchen, along with entertainment from Michelle Ross, the Toronto All-Star Big Band, DJ Mark Oliver and more. K.C. and The Sunshine Band were not in attendance to perform for the capacity crowd but it felt like “Studio 54” in New York City all over again.
The CLGA welcomed an extensive group of new and returning supporters of their 2nd annual Gala. Supporters include: TD Canada, Xtra!, Norton Rose Fullbright Canada Inc., Dr. Kevin Russello & Associates, BMO, Sherbourne Health Centre, à la Carte Kitchen, Toronto Public Library, Colio Winery and Mill Street Brewery. We look forward to the 3rd annual Disco Gala.
