The 3rd Annual Glitter In Macau@Arcadian Court(Sat.,March5th,2016)

By A.J.Lam

The 3rd Annual Glitter In Macau was an elegant evening in support of The Hospital for Sick Children(SickKids).  BMO, Cathay Pacific, Justin Poy, the Chinese-Canadian community and other SickKids supporters gathered at the Arcadian Court for an evening of glamour, gaming and amazing food as well as beverages. More than $480,000 was raised during the event  to benefit The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). This year, SickKids patients attended and shared their talent as a way to give back to the hospital that provided them with world-class care. Amongst the attendees there were more than 350 attendees from the Chinese-Canadian community. This year’s Honorary Chair, Irwin Li, has a close connection to SickKids and is dedicated to giving back after his son received surgery at the world-renowned pediatric hospital.

A few SickKids patients who are professionally trained musicians performed throughout the evening. 17 year old Anson Hui has traveled throughout North America and Europe with highly acclaimed classical musicians. Anson was diagnosed with a genetic condition and has since visited SickKids frequently. Recently, tumours were found on his liver and he will be placed on the transplant list this year. Violinist and former SickKids patient, Jeremy Zung was among three other talented musicians performing in a string quartet. After being treated at SickKids, Jeremy was inspired to give back and the audience was treated to an enthusiastic performance from this violinist extraordinaire.

Throughout the evening guests tested their luck at blackjack tables, enjoyed amazing food from Toronto’s top chefs including oysters from Oyster XO girls,  received personalized Flipbooks and enjoyed luxury shopping from retailers like Mulberry and Ritchies. The proceeds from Glitter in Macau supported hospital equipment and patient care programs in the SickKids Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, including a new neonatal MRI unit for the hospital.
We would like to thank Lynn Bessoudo, Senior Specialist, Public Relations for SickKids Foundation for the invitation to the 3rd Annual Glitter In Macau gala.
