The 5th annual Waterkeeper Gala dinner and fine art auction was held in Toronto to raise funds for clean water.
Guests took the elevator to the 10th floor of the CBC Front St. building and then on their way to the Reception stopped by the Waterkeeper “Backdrop” for a photo.
The Opening Reception was hosted by the Cement Association of Canada. Wine was provided by The Grange wine. In addition, the signature drink was by Death’s Door Spirits and beer was supplied by Mill Street Brewery.
Dinner was presented by the Greater Toronto Sewer & Watermain Contractors Association. Food was sourced from the Great Lakes watershed and prepared by Citizen catering.
The silent auction art auction collection was on display throughout the hall for bidding. The live auction took place soon after dessert was served.
Waterkeeper was founded in 2001 and is a registered Canadian charity that uses laws,science,culture, and digital media to protect a swimmable, drinkable, and fishable future.Some of the A-list roster of presenting artists,entertainers, athletes and philanthropists were:Mark Mattson/President,Waterkeepr, The Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell/Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Bob Izumi/Real Fishing show, Kevin Lowe/Edmonton Oilers, Karen Percy Lowe/Olympic skier,Denise Donlon/CBC/Sony and Murray McLauchlan/musician. The performers included: Harror Fair, Oh Susanna and Choir!Choir!Choir! Some of the artists being auctioned to raise funds for clean water included:Edward Burtynsky,Wanda Koop,Michael Adamson,Steve Driscolland and Barbara Cole.
