Known as the largest fundraising gala in North America celebrating Chinese New Year, the Dragon Ball Gala returned on January 28 of 2017 to kick off the year of the Rooster in style. This annual fundraiser benefits the Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation, a social services organization that provides quality culturally appropriate care and services to seniors of different backgrounds in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) region.
An exquisite oriental inspired 4 course dinner was served while guests had the opportunity to browse some of the incredible auction options offered. Red accented decor, lion dancers that moved to the beat of the drum (and gong), and even Bubble Tea being served as refreshments were just some of the few elements that makes this one of Toronto’s premiere charity events. Guest also had the opportunity to rub shoulders with local dignitaries such as Mayor John Tory, MP Patrick Brown, and Hazel McCallion to name a few.
With such an impressive array of political guests, it makes one wonder about the contributions behind the Yee Hong Foundation. Turns out it’s actually quite substantial: the organization serves over 3,000 senior on a daily basis and fulfills 200,000 service requests annually across the GTA. Yee Hong is dedicated to empowering and assisting seniors to lead dignified, independent and fulfilling lives through their award winning social services.
