Grammy Award winner, singer-songwriter and activist Angelique Kidjo, tweeted on International Jazz Day “Music has no nationality, no boundary, no color #Jazz belongs to you as much as it belongs to me. It’s a form of expression that’s all about freedom. Music is the ultimate weapon of peace for me.”
As a prelude to International Women’s Day, Angelique Kidjo’s rousing musical performance at the intimate Koerner Hall, Toronto’s best acoustic venue,
on Saturday, March 3, was the essence of the empowerment of women, with her powerful vocals, diversity of music, colourful Beninese costume, and lively dance moves, culminating with the appreciative audience being invited onto the stage to dance with her, Africa’s premier diva, to the beat of drums and the sounds of her playful enticements.
We would like to thank Barbora Kršek, Concert Publicity Manager and Publications Editor for the invitation to this event.
