SMASH:WE ARE MORE@GARDINER MUSEUM-Thurs.,June 21st,2018
By A.J. Lam & BK on the SCENE
SMASH is the annual art party, and it has the reputation for the past two years as the one of the most exciting events of the summer. It was a sold out event with guest enjoying the sights and sounds of SMASH for 2018.
SMASH :We Are More, highlighted conservation, contemporary art and live creativity.
Canadian creativity awaited the guests—with contemporary painters, sculptors, digital innovators, musicians, and botanical artists from Toronto and Montreal transforming the Gardiner into a visual spectacle.
It was a night of bold contemporary art, fusing with natural beauty, and mind-bending installations, while reflecting on the positive power of the world, SMASH: We Are More invited us to the present, to revel, and to explore something new. Artists, technologists, designers, musicians, DJs, and botanists created layers of intrigue among the Museum’s permanent collection, exhibition space, and penthouse terraces. Out in the upper terrace was a unique fireball of bushes to intrigue the audience.
Besides Contemporary art, there was a
special performance by SONY Music artist Langston Francis.
There was an All-night DJ set Til 1 am, and guests were dancing the night away, and when they needed some fresh air, they went out to the terrace area, which had an incredible city view.
Guest were treated to an “Open bar”
and delicious food stations by The Food Dudes.
Aspiring artists were on hand with a
design competition by George Brown College Interaction Design graduates.
