Polar Bear Affair @ Four Seasons Hotel – Sat. Feb. 22, 2020

A.J. Lam

International Polar Bear Day is just around the corner: February 27th! Polar Bears International will commemorate the day with outreach events to raise awareness about the challenges polar bears face in Canada’s North and across the Arctic.

Special programming will help you learn more about these remarkable animals, the challenges they face in a warming Arctic, and how you can help. You’ll have the chance to meet a range of experts—from the U.S., Canada, Norway, and Denmark—and ask questions. And if you miss them live, you can watch later!

As a prelude to International Polar Bear Day, the Polar Bear Affair, will be the gala to raise funds and awareness for polar bear conservation!

The Third Annual Polar Bear Affair, after the PBI’s inaugural gala in Toronto in 2018, held at the luxurious five-star Four Seasons Hotel in Yorkville was artfully hosted by Anna Rust, British Actor and Activist.

The evening, after a very lively live auction, and generous donations from patrons, including a matching donation of $250,000 from the Dairy Farmers of Canada, resulting in a grand total of $500,000 raised during the gala, featured a rousing musical performance by Dwayne Gretzky Band.

Dwayne Gretzky is a curated nostalgia trip that captures the unique joy of turning a radio dial and being surprised by the familiar. A 10+ piece juggernaut that brings to life the greatest songs of all time, this talented group of Toronto musicians ignites audiences with their charm, fidelity and theatrical flair. Celebrating classic pop and rock, from Fleetwood Mac to Fatboy Slim, Dwayne Gretzky has delivered electrifying renditions of over 600 songs.

During the evening, a very special award was presented to the PBI board member extraordinaire, Frederica Gamble, in addition, to a presentation of the documentary, Bare Existence.

Bare Existence: Gripping New Film
For all of those at Polar Bears International, hope means rolling up our sleeves and getting to work. Global climate change is melting the sea ice polar bears depend on—so now, more than ever, polar bears need our attention and our action. Bare Existence, a documentary made possible by Canada Goose, takes a behind-the-scenes look at PBI’s efforts to conserve wild polar bears and the Arctic sea ice they call home.

PBI Ambassador Kate Upton
PBI is so grateful to internationally renowned supermodel, Kate Upton, for using her influence to draw attention to the challenges polar bears face in a warming Arctic, a global conservation concern that affects us all. Learn more about Kate’s moving Arctic journey on Vogue.
