Dixonlicious@Daniel Spectrum-Tuesday, June 6, 2023

After a few years absence live, Dixonlicious is back in person! The 6th annual fundraiser event held at Daniel’s Spectrum on Dundas East in Regent Park was a hit! Fundraiser ticket holders enjoyed delicious food from the variety of food booths … every kind of food!  and had the chance to speak to the chefs about either their catering services or their restaurants in Toronto area. Guests enjoyed sampling drinks such as Steam Whistle beer, craft beers, wine and refreshing cocktails. The perfect chance to sample one’s new favourite drink and food! And all for a very good cause!

Speeches from Mina Mawani CEO, Dixon Hall, Councillor Chris Moise, Kristyn Wong-Tam MPP for Toronto Centre among others telling of the importance of Dixon Hall and its programs.

Lovely musical performance by young guitarist Ferdos.

Finally, Brenda Rogers, Food Access Peer Worker, spoke about her first hand experience and the importance of supporting Dixon Hall.

A live auction was held with shopping spree items, trips with Air Canada and beautiful artwork. People were generous, friendly and enthusiastic. Also there was a huge selection of silent auction items to see and more online.

Throughout the venue, there were “Tap to Give” terminals to make contactless charity payment donations with credit cards.

While everyone enjoyed the good food and drinks, they were raising funds for those who don’t have enough to eat. The Dixonlicious fundraiser was hoping to provide 30,000 meals to fight food insecurity in Toronto for Dixon Hall.

Held at Daniel’s Spectrum, a nice airy building with a very good venue space on Dundas Street East, easily accessible by TTC streetcar – which stops right in front of the Daniel’s Spectrum.  It was an enjoyable, successful fundraiser for an excellent cause to support people in Toronto.  We look forward to supporting this event again in 2024.
