By Franklin Lau

It was a night of new and veterans of the heavy metal genre for the tour: “Klash of the Titans.” Sharing the spotlight were three of the most iconic, prolific and influential thrash bands of all-time. Sepultura, Kreator and Death Angel who are the veterans, with Sepultura and  Kreator being the featured bands and also trading off headliner duties from city to city. In Toronto, Sepultura took their turn as the closers of the concert.

First on stage was the very unique-Spiritworld. A refreshing new form of metal, called “death western thrash,” was curated by this band-Spiritworld. Based out of Las Vegas and formed in 2017 by founding member Stu Folsom. Just think: metal guys, rhinestone jackets, wearing cowboy-hats and maybe a Johnny Cash influenced song when they arrive on stage, but then they start playing with scorching guitar riffs and double-bass drumming that caused a circle mosh pit.  The fans were intrigued at the Danforth Theatre with this impressive form of metal that most have never experienced before. The debut album:”Deathwestern” debuted in 2022, and songs like: “Comancheria”their opener, ULCER”, “Relic of Damnation” and their finale Pagan Rhythms were the highlights for this band’s concert. We look forward to seeing this band again with a longer set next time. https://spiritworldprophet.com/

A constant visual for their shows is the band’s huge monster mascot which was nicely displayed for all to see.
