Celebrating 18 Years of Caribbean Cinematic Excellence: CaribbeanTales International Film Festival Unveils Remarkable 2023 Lineup

By Steph.C.

In celebration of its 18th anniversary, the CaribbeanTales International Film Festival (CTFF) will take place from September 6th to 22nd. The festival presentations will be both online and in person, allowing the opportunity to reach the widest audience and ensuring that these vital visual stories remain available and relevant always. During the media launch on August 8th, CTFF revealed its extraordinary lineup of films representing the rich and diverse narratives of the Caribbean Diaspora.

In an era dominated by environmental concerns, CTFF turns its lens towards the impact of climate change on vulnerable Caribbean islands. The festival aims to shed light on these pressing environmental issues through carefully curated films and spark conversations that drive change.

The media launch also showcased the world’s premier screening of Kite Zo A in partnership with Hot Docs. “Kite Zo A (Leave the Bones),” directed by Kaveh Nabatian, is an electrifying film about rituals in Haiti, from ancient to modern, made in collaboration with dancers, musicians, fishermen, daredevil rollerbladers, and Vodou priests, set to poetry by Haitian author Wood-Jerry Gabriel. The film explores the essence of transformation, artistic expression, and survival amid adversity. The Q&A session with the director following the screening added depth and further understanding of the director’s vision and message in the film.

With climate change at the forefront, this year’s festival promises to inspire, educate, and foster the collective commitment to a better, sustainable future. Join the celebration and immerse yourself in the narratives that define the Caribbean spirit. For detailed festival and ticket information, visit https://caribbeantalesfestival.com
