Illuminarium at The Distillery District is Toronto’s newest immersive entertainment venue. Located at 28 Distillery Lane, visitors can choose from two immersive experiences, WAKING WONDERLAND and SPACE: A Journey to the Moon and Beyond, beginning August 31 until November 2023.
WAKING WONDERLAND is an immersive masterpiece inspired by Lewis Carroll’s timeless fantasy novel, “Through the Looking Glass.” Three generations after the slumber of the original Wonderland, the spotlight now shines on Anna, the granddaughter of the famed Alice. Anna takes visitors on a quest to awaken a slumbering world and bring back the magic to Wonderland told to her through stories from her treasured grandmother. Visitors encounter the Mad Hatter in his chaotic tea factory and come face-to-face with the Queen of Hearts in her throne room.
They can touch, search, smell and play with surreal settings and colourful characters in the magical forest where the Cheshire Cat hopes Anna can be the one to save Wonderland.
The allure of space captivates and mesmerizes our imagination across countless decades. The second immersive journey playing at the Illuminarium is SPACE: A Journey to the Moon and Beyond. This out-of-this-world immersive experience takes visitors on an extraordinary journey
across the galaxy. Visitors begin with a countdown to “Takeoff” into Space with a rocket. The exhibition includes interactive and visually-stunning imagery from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the largest and most groundbreaking telescope ever built, through the lens of Illuminarium’s high-tech animation systems and 360-degree fully immersive screens. Step and watch as visitors can leave footprints on the Moon and jump on meteors and watch them explode.
