Who didn’t love the music videos of the 80’s and 90’s? 299 Queen Street West is the documentary that showcased Canada’s national music station and it was narrated by some of the original VJ’s, who at the time learned their craft on the jo without prior TV hosting experience, received no direction, no scripts, broadcasted live across the country with their unique personality and style.
The film showcased how MuchMusic’s rise in popularity with music shows such as: The Power 30, Power Hour, Dance Party Friday, French Kiss – a half-hour-long block of French language music videos, Loud, Much Hip-Hop, Power Shift, The Punk Show, Rap City, Spotlight and The Wedge.
The station invited music lovers to arrive at the window friendly street level studio. The who’s who were interviewed, performed live and were gracious enough to provide a meet & greet to rabid fans at 299 Queen Street West. Stars included: REM, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Britney Spears, NSYNC, The Ramones and Oasis, to name a few of the big musical acts.
VJ’s and personalities included: Master T, Steve Anthony, Rick Campanelli, Monika Deol, Denise Donlon, Erica Ehm, Namugenyi Kiwanuka, Sook-Yin Lee, George Stroumboulopoulos, Bill Welychka, and Michael Williams.
After each screening across the tour, there will be an Intimate & Interactive with iconic MuchMusic VJ’s and the Director, Sean Menard.
We would like to thank Eric Alper for the invitation to this event.
