Yes we’re going to a party party. The Toronto launch of Fashioning The Beatles, a new book by Canadian journalist and author Deirdre Kelly, rocked out at the Liss Gallery on Tuesday night, where dozens lined up to get signed copies of a book that — only days after its hotly anticipated release — is already a No 1 best seller on Amazon.

Published by Canadian indie Sutherland House Books, the illustrated nonfiction title is the first of its kind to take a deep dive into the Beatles’ enormous impact on fashion, then as now. Iconic images of the Fab Four (all from gallerist Brian Liss’s personal collection) lined the Yorkville venue’s walls, providing solid proof of the group’s impactful style in pop culture.
“I wanted to write about my fave and in a way that hadn’t been tried before,“ said Kelly when addressing a room packed with Beatles’ enthusiasts along with artists, fashion designers, musicians, collectors, filmmakers, family and friends. “The look of the Beatles was a crucial component of their unparalleled success. I’m glad to have brought that to light.”

An author’s talk and book signing for Fashioning The Beatles: The Looks That Shook The World, will take place at the Toronto Public Library, Don Mills branch, on October 4, 6:30 to 7:30 pm: https://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca/detail.jsp?Entt=RDMEVT490786&R=EVT490786
