The 25th Anniversary of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame @Glenn Gould Studio, CBC Building-Wednesday, November 1st, 2023

The 25th Anniversary of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame took place on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 at Glenn Gould Studio, CBC Building, 250 Front Street West, Toronto. The evening was a time to celebrate Canada’s Songwriters.

The Red Carpet took place before the show with everyone sharing their excitement of the event.  The Glenn Gould Studio at the CBC Building was a perfect location. It’s a beautiful theatre with a roomy foyer looking out onto Front Street.  On the Red Carpet were Canadians who were being inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and their guests and family members, singers who were performing and administrative members.

The Legends Series Show started at 7pm and ran until approximately 10:30pm. The evening was hosted by TV personality Sonia Benezra known from Montreal’s MusiquePlus/MuchMusic, with performances backed by a house band led by Musical Director, Lou Pomanti.

Mark Gane (Member of Martha and the Muffins): Song Induction: Echo Beach – in the audience was Martha Johnson of Martha and the Muffins and wife of Mark Gane also of Marth and the Muffins.

DJ Starting from Scratch, Cameron Phillip, Canadian music icon – Sylvia Tyson was in attendance. 

Marc Jordan, Songwriter Induction performed Tears of Hercules written for Rod Stewart. He was joined by Grammy & Academy Award-nominated songwriter, composer, producer, pianist and recording artist, Stephan Moccio.

Award-winning and sought-after producer, artist and songwriter, John Capek was inducted as a Songwriter for his many hits, including a performance of Blame it On Me, originally recorded by Bonnie Raitt; and emerging R&B star LORKE performed Promises, written by Capek for Amanda Marshall. 
30 years after the single was first released, Snow ended the evening by performing his massive hit, Informer.  Snow received a Song Induction for this hit song. It was a brilliant way of finishing the show with everyone coming on stage to celebrate for the finale. 
Throughout the evening there were interview style conversations led by the animated and brilliant MC Sonia Benezra. Music performances, videoclips, discussions, laughter and memories. A brilliant evening! 
Congratulations to all the CSHF Inductees!  You make Canada proud! Very proud!
