It was NFL’s Community Day Event at Nellis Air Force Base during Super Bowl Week. In support of the Super Bowl LVIII flyover and the long-standing relationship between the NFL and the military, the U.S. Air Force hosted NFL talent (players and cheerleaders) at Nellis Air Force Base on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 6 for a Salute to Service event.
There were multiple fighter jets, including an F-35, F-22, The Thunderbirds, F-15 and more. Guests were encouraged to take photos, videos and chat with aircrews for this exclusive opportunity. In addition to static displays, there were also interactive displays from the Air Force bomb squad, Fire department and robot dogs (which people can operate).
The Air Force Thunderbirds, who performed the flyover at Super Bowl LVIII were onsite to take photos and sign autographs. Also on site were personnel who conducted the air defense mission over the air space around Allegiant Stadium.
Flyovers are a way for the U.S. Air Force to showcase the capabilities of their aircraft while at the same time inspire future generations. The U.S. Air Force performs close to 1,000 flyovers a year, including air shows, national-level sporting events, and events in support of holidays.
After this event, we had a short break for the night time media party at Grand Prix Plaza. The hospitality was second to none, as there were interactive vendors, DJ’s and visuals that kept the guest dancing, mingling and enjoying the whole vibe of this yearly event of the host city of the Superbowl.
