The Metro Toronto Convention Centre was a busy place on Saturday, February 10th. It was the celebration of the Lunar New Year and the biggest annual fundraiser for the Yee Hong Foundation Toronto.
The Dragon Ball gala was held in the lower level in the MTCC North Building which is an excellent gala venue. Guests were greeted by the many well-trained Dragon Ball volunteers who were led to a wide variety of food stations tempting every taste palette possible. The extensive silent auction items or description of items could be viewed and bids placed while sipping a glass of wine and nibbling on the food station samples. Guests could also purchase draw tickets for major prizes.
Once seated in the ballroom dining room, the Masters of Ceremony Vanessa Hui & Winston Sih welcomed everyone. The Opening performance: Dragon’s Accolade to the Dragon Ball performed by The Sunny Tang Performance Troupe – Wushu by Storm. The National Anthem was sung by J. Lau with the Symus String Ensemble. Remarks by Dr. Joseph Wong, Yee Hong Founder, Chair of Yee Hong Foundation.
The 4 course Gala Dinner started with a delicious salad with seared smoked duck, then vermicelli in shell giant scallop. Entree was Dragon
Fruit pork shank and to finish a delicious, refreshing dessert of Strawberry mousse with fresh fruits.
Following the dinner was a dance performance: Golden Waves of Hope presented by the Chinese Collective Arts Association. Then the exciting Live Auction with amazing items on which to bid. The feature performance was by the Advocates Big Band. The Sweet & Savoury Table along with the Special Lucky Draw and Dancing to live music concluded a wonderful evening of fundraising and enjoyment.

The Dragon Ball is the annual benefit gala for Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation. Combining philanthropy with the celebration of Chinese New Year, Dragon Ball has maintained its position as one of Toronto’s most anticipated events and the largest Chinese New Year celebration of its kind in North America for the last three decades.
Dragon Ball 2024 marks the 35th anniversary of Yee Hong’s flagship fundraising gala, welcoming in the Year of the Dragon.
The funds raised help support the culturally and language appropriate care and services provided by Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care to seniors of various ethnic backgrounds in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The Lunar New Year is here, and in 2024 it’s all about the Dragon.
