It’s March! It’s Toronto! So it’s the annual PDAC Convention. Held at Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC).  The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is the leading voice of the mineral exploration and development community. People involved in the mining industry come from all over the world to attend, speak and exhibit. 

The annual award winning PDAC Convention in Toronto, Canada brings together 30,000 attendees from over 130 countries for its educational programming, networking events, business opportunities and learning experiences. Networking events were held at Ripley’s Aquarium, Hotel Intercontinental, Royal York Hotel, Real Sports amongst other venues. Each sponsored by mining related companies. 

Since its inception in  1932 and PDAC has grown in size, stature and influence. Today, it is the event of choice for the world’s mineral industry with more than 1,100 exhibitors and 700 speakers.

There are symposiums on various mining topics from different countries. 

On the trade show, we see the world – from South American countries such as Peru, Brazil, Chile and Argentina to Asian countries such as Japan. Some of the African countries included Guinée, Mali, South Africa, Tanzania. Australia was well represented. European countries including Greenland, Finland to name a few. A big booth from India. Companies from the USA. And, of course, Canada, Indigenous communities and all the provinces were represented.  Beautiful displays. Great networking opportunities. Rock samples galore to see and touch. Machinery for drilling and robotics. Airplane information for remote destinations. Information on colleges for students on how to get trained to join this mining world. And there’s lots of opportunity for young people in both the trades and the engineering side of mining. Mining Matters offers excellent programs and resources for teachers, students of all ages – including elementary school and colleges. 

Toronto is the perfect city for the PDAC visitors – lots of great restaurants, sports events such as Raptors basketball game, bars and cafés, Eaton Centre shopping mall within walking distance, TTC transit system to get you around or taxis.   

PDAC proved again that it is the World’s Premier Mineral Exploration & Mining Convention, the leading event for people, companies and organizations connected to mineral exploration. PDAC 2024 was a great success – as always. We look forward to the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada Convention next year in Toronto in 2025!
