Thursday, March 28th, 2024 was the launch of Gwen K. Harvey’s second novel, The Acquisition of Elizabeth Grace. It was held at the beautiful and spacious Verity.ca event space on 111d Queen Street East – just east of Yonge Street in downtown Toronto. Attendees enjoyed hearing an inspirational talk of the book and its origins led by the publisher Rebecca Eckler with Toronto author Gwen K. Harvey. An opportunity for questions from the many guests followed. A selection of delicious sandwiches and scones were enjoyed and very fitting for the book subject. Wine and other refreshments as well as coffee were served. Here is a description of the book.

On New Year’s Eve of 1970, sisters Sophie and Olivia’s lives change forever with the ill-fated discovery of a sapphire and diamond bracelet gifted to their mother, Elizabeth Grace Bennett Bannister.
Their mother hails from an old money family from England, and grew up roaming the halls of the vast and beautiful Harrington Hall mansion with her siblings. After the events of this evening, Elizabeth Grace all but disappears from their lives, and the sisters are left to ponder why their mother never returned home with their father.
When Sophie and Olivia receive the opportunity to return to England years later, a series of disturbing buried secrets and scandals surrounding the characters of Harrington Hall begin to emerge. With elder sister Sophie taking the lead, the girls set out to reconnect with their estranged English family, and finally find an answer to their looming questions: What happened to Elizabeth Grace? And what other ghosts does Harrington Hall hide?

In addition to personal reading, The Acquisition of Elizabeth Grace would be an ideal novel for a book club. Looking forward to reading this second book by Gwen K. Harvey and hoping for a third novel soon! Happy Reading!
