By Wayne Baggs

Jully Black’s performance at Casa Loma’s Sunset Concert series was nothing short of spectacular. Starting off this evening featured special performances by alumni of Canada’s Walk of Fame RBC Emerging Musician Program. Tonight it was J3M. Against the stunning backdrop of the historic castle, Black delivered an electrifying show that captivated the audience from start to finish. Her powerful voice, filled with soul and passion, resonated through the evening air, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

From the moment she stepped on stage, her vibrant energy and commanding presence captivated the crowd. Her setlist, a blend of her classic hits and new material, showcased her versatility as an artist. The intimate setting of Casa Loma allowed for a unique connection between Black and her audience. Her heartfelt interaction and genuine warmth made the evening feel like a personal serenade. The band, equally talented, complemented her powerful vocals perfectly, creating a rich and immersive musical experience. Her rendition of Marley’s Redemption Song was a powerful goosebump moment for those paying attention. Raw emotion. In addition to her musical prowess, Black’s performance was marked by moments of poignant storytelling, sharing personal anecdotes that added depth to her songs.

This concert was not just a musical performance, but an emotional journey that celebrated love, resilience, and the power of music. The Sunset Concert series at Casa Loma provided a perfect venue for Black’s dynamic performance.

The natural acoustics of the open-air setting enhanced her voice, and the picturesque sunset added a magical quality to the evening. Overall, Jully Black’s concert at Casa Loma was a night to remember, a masterclass in live performance that highlighted why she is one of Canada’s most beloved artists. A superb start to what I expect to be an excellent series of Sunset Concerts every Tuesday night until August 27th, this summer at Casa Loma.
