If the blues had a heartbeat in Toronto last night, it was pounding through the walls of The Opera House. Christone “Kingfish” Ingram delivered a masterclass in soul-drenched guitar and raw emotion as part of Canada Music Week 2024. From the moment he stepped on stage, the energy was electric—like the spirit of B.B. King and Hendrix had collided in a Mississippi thunderstorm.

Opening with “She Calls Me Kingfish,” he had the crowd in the palm of his hand. His guitar sang, cried, and roared, while his voice—mature beyond his years—cut straight through the noise of everyday life and into something deeper. Highlights included a scorching rendition of “Outside of This Town” and a hauntingly beautiful “Another Life Goes By,” which left the venue hushed and breathless.

But it wasn’t just technical brilliance—it was heart. Every bend, every solo felt like it mattered. By the end of the night, the Opera House felt more like a Southern juke joint, soaked in blues and baptismal fire.
Kingfish didn’t just play the blues—he lived it on stage. A night to remember, and a reminder that the blues is in very good hands.
