Day 2 – June 23rd – Today was a whirlwind of amazing performances at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival! The Village Stage was bustling with energy and excitement. The atmosphere was electric as people gathered under the summer sky, ready for a day filled with fantastic music. My first music experience of the day was with the New Dimension Steel Orchestra at the Main Stage. Then off to the Village stage for Moodset, followed by HEATHER CORNELL LEGACY PROJECT FEATURING MAX POLLAK.

Tapdancing to a mesmerized audience.
Around 7 pm I enjoyed Roshane Wright and the Rosh Riddims Band back at the main stage. Their vibrant blend of reggae and jazz was captivating. Wright’s percussive melodies intertwined perfectly with the lively rhythms of his band, creating an infectious groove that had everyone dancing. It was a joyful celebration of musical fusion, showcasing Wright’s talent and the band’s cohesive performance.

Later, I headed over to the Jazz Bistro to catch Jill Barber. The intimate setting of the bistro was a perfect match for her soulful voice. She took us on a journey through a French music repertoire, blending jazz, folk, and pop seamlessly. Her emotive delivery and heartfelt lyrics struck a chord with the audience, creating a deeply moving experience. The highlight of her set was a stunning rendition of “Sous Le Ciel de Paris,” which left everyone in awe.

Overall, June 23rd was a testament to the diversity and talent present at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival. Each performance brought something unique to the table, making for an unforgettable day of music and community.
