The Musical Stage Company’s 18th annual UNCOVERED concert was at Koerner Hall!  This October the spotlight was on the two most famous rock bands in music history, U2 & The Rolling Stones!

From U2’s politically charged arrangements to The Rolling Stones’ rebellious and blues-influenced melodies, the innovation and success of these bands’ careers have spanned decades. Each known for their ability to create anthem like songs like “(Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”, “Ruby Tuesday”, “With or Without You”, and “Where the Streets Have No Name”, their approach to music is ever-changing and adapting, proving both bands’ reputations as the best of rock music history. The opportunity to see the concert was October 22 – 25, 2024. 4 nights.

In his 2nd year, Kevin Wong returns as the creative visionary behind UNCOVERED following last season’s very successful debut with the music of Fleetwood Mac & The Eagles. This year’s UNCOVERED concert again featured award-winning Canadian artists such as Jackie Richardson and Lydia Persaud. Jackie Richardson, with over 50 years of experience, brings a dynamic performance with an amazing voice to the stage – always connecting with her fellow musicians and the audience. She is an adored singer who often joins Soul Singer Sean Jones in his concerts. Lydia Persaud who is well known as one of the lead singers in the band Dwayne Gretzky has a full résumé of singing experiences and a busy weekend with her following evening being at Massey Hall with the band Dwayne Gretzky.

The talent of the musicians and singers on stage was superlative. As each singer and musician performed, it all seemed to get better and better!  The creative way the songs of  U2 and Rolling Stones were performed had us sometimes guessing the song to begin with… but recognized after a few beats.

The evening was wonderful. To begin with, Koerner Hall is such a fantastic venue for smaller concerts. The hall has comfortable chairs with each seat having a great view of the stage. The sound is very good. Patrons wishing a drink or snack before the concert or during the break enjoy that while in the spacious bar foyer area with its ceiling to floor windows looking out onto a beautiful area with trees. It was a wonderful evening of music not only for U2 and Rolling Stones fans but for music lovers in general.  The voices were wonderful, music brilliant and Koerner Hall an excellent venue. And it’s right on the subway line, too! Very convenient.   Check out the Musical Stage Company’s website to see what’s up next! And mark your calendar for the 19th annual UNCOVERED in 2025!
