CAMH Engage Fundraiser Gala 2024 @The Windsor Arms-Fri.,Nov.8th,2024

By Sally Warburton

The 11th Annual CAMH Engage Gala took place on Friday, November 8th, 2024. This annual event shows us how CAMH research is changing mental health care forever. Guests gathered, networked and celebrated at this iconic Yorkville destination. The evening featured hors d’oeuvre, entertainment and a hosted bar. A formal dress code was encouraged and guests looked amazing!

Doors opened at 7pm at the Windsor Arms Hotel on St. Thomas Street just south of Bloor and west of Bay Street in the Yorkville area of Toronto. The Windsor Arms is a beautiful venue with a gorgeous foyer entry and large and elegant event space. Throughout the evening classical music was playing from the musicians located on the second floor balcony. The beautiful music added to the atmosphere as guests sampled hors-d’oeuvre with their drink while mingling and connecting. At 8pmthere were announcements and welcome messages to discuss the reason for the fundraising – mental health research.

Guest speaker was Parathlete,Tyler McGregor. 30 year old Tyler McGregor is a Canadian sledge hockey player, and captain of Canada’s national para hockey team. Tyler told us about when he was diagnosed with bone cancer at age 15 and had to have leg amputated below the knee. He was thankfully able to use the services of CAMH and praised them for the help he received. We’re very proud Canadians to see Tyler succeed and to be grateful to CAMH. We wish him continued success and health… both physical and mental.

After the speeches, guests enjoyed the Games Room, making bracelets with charms, having artificial eyelashes applied, tasting the delicious gelato and checking out and bidding on the Silent Auction with its very interesting and diverse selection of items ranging from artwork to jewelry to event experiences.

It was a beautiful fundraising event in a wonderful place (so easy to get to on the TTC subway!) with friendly people.. And all  for a wonderful cause – mental health.

We must remember that – Mental Health is Health.

And CAMH’s hashtag No One Left Behind

We will look forward to supporting this CAMH event in 2025.
