Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema was a sold out venue on Saturday, February 1st, 2025. It was the premiere screening of Lost Together – the documentary film of Canada’s iconic band Blue Rodeo. Blue Rodeo’s 40 year story.

And the place was filled with Toronto musicians – Jim Cuddy, Greg Keelor and other current and past members of Blue Rodeo were present in addition to other musicians. Travis Good of the Sadies, Matt Mayes. Founder and president of NXNE and co-founder of NOW Magazine Michael Hollett, to name a few.

Band members have changed – come and gone. But Cuddy and Keelor the founders have always kept the band solidly together. Blue Rodeo’s career has been one of JUNO Awards, multi-million selling albums, a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, inducted into Canada’s Songwriters Hall of Fame and sold out concerts at large and smaller venues. We learn all about the band and its history in the music documentary.

After the sold-out screening which received a standing ovation, Erica Ehm of MuchMusic fame led the Q & A with documentary Director Dale Heslip and Collaborators & Band members – Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor – along with other current Blue Rodeo members. It was a jovial and interesting discussion where the audience got to see the friendly dynamics. The audience had questions too. All the past band members in the audience joined everyone on stage for the finale – which was fantastic to see. The documentary was amazing, informative and fun. Seeing Blue Rodeo’s band members – past and present – all together on stage and in the audience was a real treat. If you’re a Blue Rodeo fan or an admirer of music documentaries, make sure you see Lost Together. It’s fantastic.

Blue Rodeo’s Lost Together documentary will be available on CBC Gem as of February 19th.
