Andy Kim’s 21st annual Gift of Light Christmas concert at Massey Hall delivered a heartwarming, unforgettable night that reaffirmed its place as one of Toronto’s most cherished holiday traditions. A festive spirit filled the historic venue from the moment the lights dimmed and the first notes rang out, blending joyous celebration with genuine generosity—as all ticket proceeds supported CAMH’s Gifts of Light charity initiative.

Kim himself set the tone, opening with his timeless classics like “Baby, I Love You” and later “Sugar, Sugar,” showcasing that his voice remains remarkably vibrant and commanding after decades in the spotlight. Throughout the night, his warm storytelling and easy rapport with the audience and fellow performers added a personal, familial touch to the proceedings.

The evening unfolded like a beautifully curated variety show, with Canadian music icons and rising talents alike taking their turns on the Massey Hall stage. Sloan injected high-energy rock momentum, encouraging sing-along claps that turned sections of the hall into a unified chorus. Other standout performances—from soulful vocals to indie-tinged interpretations—kept the crowd fully engaged, while comic host Sean Cullen’s playful banter knit the night together with laughs and charm.

What truly set this year’s concert apart was its seamless blend of community, artistry, and goodwill, making it feel less like a typical concert and more like a warm holiday gathering of friends. It was a celebratory testament to Kim’s enduring legacy and the power of music to uplift and unite
