The sixth annual Acoustic-4-A-Cure was a success! The night was filled with surprise performances and special guests. A packed house was treated to a parade of hits from Sammy & The Circle, Tom Johnson (and his daughter Lara), Rick Springfield, Chad Kroeger, Nancy Wilson, Joe Satriani (including a special "Circlefoot" performance), plus Bob Weir stepped in for a sick Lukas Nelson who was unable to fly.
Last night at Opening Night, we kicked off #Collision with a bang... literally. There were fireworks. We also welcomed speakers Prime Minister #JustinTrudeau, #SethRogen (who talked about his new cannabis company) and many more to kick off the week of talks. Then today, we got to hear from the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Timbaland and caught a one-on-one between two of tech's biggest journalism icons, Kara Swisher and #EvWilliams Here's a roundup of just a few Collision highlights so far. Collision 2019 by the numbers 25,711 attendees from 125 countries, over 700 speakers across 15 content tracks, and one of our proudest numbers, 45.7% of attendees are female - our best gender ratio ever, beating out Web Summit 2018. "We're trying to build a different type of collaborative platform" #JosephGordonLevitt joined us to talk about HITRECORD, his online collaboration community for creators. Currently, over 700,000 users on the platform are collaborating with others around the world. JGL has big plans for helping people make things together online they couldn't have done on their own. See his full talk here. #timberland "What's going to create value is trusting each other" Global artist #Akon joined us to discuss his big plans for Akoin, the new cryptocurrency he’s building to empower young African entrepreneurs and help developing communities. He even plans to build a crypto-powered city in his home country, #Senegal, which many are comparing it to 'a real-life Wakanda'. "You don't lose by being firm and speaking your mind" Two heavyweights of tech met on Centre Stage today as #Kara Swisher, the straight-talking editor-at-large of Recode, sat down with #EvWilliams, co-founder of Twitter and the CEO and founder of Medium. They discussed what Ev finds exciting as an investor and entrepreneur and life after Twitter. "There is a disinformation problem because the problem is people." Facebook's former Chief Security Officer, Alex Stamos joined #KaraSwisher to talk about how big tech can make a come back. He believes a balance of good technical work and people taking responsibility online.
