So what's Dare to Wear Love? It's an annual gala that brings together
the Canadian fashion design community and performing artists to raise
funds and awareness for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Started by 25
top Canadian fashion designers including Hoax Couture, Comrags, Brian
Bailey, Lida Baday and David Dixon. In partnership with the Fashion
Design Council of Canada an organization that works to put money
directly into the hands of grassroots organizations in Africa to turn
the tide on the AIDS pandemic.
The show was incredible!
My favorite look and walk was from Canada's first Bachelor, Brad
Smith, who strutted his stuff with Tracy Moore from Cityline. Brad
stepped out of his comfort zone and there was not a V-Neck in sight.
He was also really fun to watch on the runway, goofy and pretty sweet.
All in all, it was a fabulous way to end Fashion Week. A lovely event,
beautiful clothes and amazing people all coming together for a great

Hoax Couture Designers Continue to Raise Money for HIV/AIDS Epidemic in Africa
TORONTO, ON – Last night, the Dare to Wear Love (DTWL) Gala celebrated its fifth anniversary with a knock-out show at Toronto’s Ritz Carlton Hotel. Celebrities, influencers and models took to the runway to showcase Canadian fashion, culminating in a presentation of one-of-a-kind couture creations constructed from six yards of African fabric. Esteemed guests like Jeanne Beker, Suzanne Rogers, Robin Kay and Glen Dixon watched as their notable friends walked the runway in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation.  Some even partook in the superhero theme of the night as the stunning Sylvia Mantella entered the ballroom in a jaw dropping black gown and a facemask made from crystals.

Canadian songstress, Divine Brown opened the show with a stellar musical performance, while D’Bi Young garnered a standing ovation from the audience with her inspiring and powerful words. Models included, power couple Kirstine Stewart, (Head of Twitter Canada) and Zaib Shaikh, (Actor), who were playful on the runway and ended their walk with a #selfie; Love it or List It’s Hilary Farr danced down the runway in a Marie-Antoinette inspired wig and a beautiful dress created by Reva Mivasagar; and SEED’s leading lady, Amanda Bruegel strutted down the runway in a sublime Linda Lundström design.
