Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade – Sat Aug 2 2014
by Bill Kwan
Exhibition Place on Lakeshore Blvd was the place to celebrate Caribbean Carnival with the premiere showcase of the Festival. The grand parade was a spectacular and vibrant masquerade, thriving with colourful and striking costumes, steel pan bands, and massive human operated floats.
Taking place along a three and a half kilometer stretch of the Lakeshore Blvd, spectators were treated to a visual tour de force of colour and rich cultural festivities. There was suppose to be VIP and special seating but that was all put to rest as revelers sneaked in through the cracks left over from the Honda Indy a few weeks ago
Alongside the parade were vendors who raised the festive mood of all the patrons and participants with their Caribbean hospitality. All in all a great time for everyone showing their colours during the day long parade.
