The geeks are here, the geeks are here! Toronto FanExpo, Canada’s premiere convention for genre entertainment fanfare, celebrated it’s 20th spectacular year. From Thursday to Sunday the Metro Convention Centre was packed wall to wall as geeks and fans, both local and visitors from all corners, came together to celebrate their love of all things sci-fi and fantasy; from comics, to TV and film, animation, and video games. It was also a dream for collectors with a wide assortment of vendors, selling toys, sculptures, and other memorabilia and crafts for the truly dedicated aficionado.

The celebrity showcase was as extensive as ever where the convention hall featured such headliners such as William Shatner, Adam West, Burt Ward, Matt Smith, Nathan Fillion, Patrick Stewart, Lights, Hulk Hogan, Dave Bautista, and comics legend Stan Lee (among a host of so many), making this a repeat appearance for him. Robert Englund, the iconic horror star who brought nightmares to life as Freddy Krueger, had the distinguished honor of opening the show at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

As another time honoured tradition of the show, FanExpo was an impressive exhibit of fans expressing their passion by dressing up as their heroes. The cosplayers were out in force, demonstrating impressive talent and artistry in recreating all the beloved characters of comics, film, animation and gaming. Some so good in costume creation that you might even believe a movie about the title character was being shot. This year also marked a special commemoration to the community when FanExpo hosted some celebrity cosplayers, most notable among them, Jessica Nigri and none other than the “Queen of Cosplay” herself, Yaya Han.

It was 4 days of epic nerd power like nothing else in Canada where the biggest attraction was imagination.
