2014 Hockey Hall of Fame Induction, Nov. 14-17, 2014 @Hockey Hall of Fame, Toronto
2014 marked the year Rob Blake, Peter Forsberg, Dominik Hasek and Mike Modano were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as players, while late Pat Burns (coaching) and Bill McCreary (referee). Of the players that were inducted, this years players were inducted each player are legends at their position.
Rob Blake, a triple gold winner in representing Canada at the World’s Championship, Olympic Gold and the Stanley Cup (Forsberg also did this) is the current assistant GM for the Los Angeles Kings.
Peter Forsberg, took the Power Forward position to a whole new level that the NHL never seen in a European player. Forsberg not only played the position with speed and power, but he possessed the skills to weave and cut through the ice and put the puck in the net.
Dominik Hasek, quickly became every hockey players worse nightmare. The highlight reel stops kept some snipers up at night trying to figure out a way to get the puck past the Dominator with in unorthodox goalie stance and his knack of somehow stacking the pads or throwing up his blocker or glove at the last minute to stop the puck from finding its way into the net.
Mike Modano, is the all-time highest scoring American born player in the NHL and is also the face of the Minnesota North Stars and Dallas Stars (after the move). Know for his offensive skills at a forward, Mike surprised many of us when he won the Selke Award for best defensive forward.
Pat Burns, brought his fiery coaching style to the Habs, Maple Leafs, Bruins and the Devils. Winning the Stanley Cup in 2003 with the New Jersey Devils
Bill McCreary, has officiated 1,737 regular season games, 297 playoff games and many international games. McCreary is best remember by players for his consistent and fair officiating, never playing favorites are backing down from his calls on the ice.
November 17, 2014 was the official induction gala with other current and former hockey greats out in attendance to support the new members. Players and walked the red carpet and made their way to the assigned seats as the official induction was televised and players made their speeches for their inductions.
