Butcher Babies,Hatebreed+B.L.S.-Jan.,8th,2014@Kool Haus

It was a “Swan Song” for the legendary “Kool Haus” in Toronto as this was indeed the very last Rock N’ Roll concert before the historical Kool Haus and Guvernment will be torn down for condominiums. This event went out with a “Big Bang.” It wasn’t easy to take pictures or concentrate on the show when you are positioned by the front of the stage. The excited fans were full of adrenaline and what was in store was: moshing, slam dancing, body surfing and general mayhem. The concert started on time with Butcher Babies who are fronted by former Entertainment Reporter for the Playboy Channel:Carla Harvey and her colleague Heidi Shepard who sang, growled and screamed to the delight of their loyal fans. A predominately Testosterone filled crowd with a legion of female followers joining in on the first Toronto appearance of Butcher Babies. With an EP and New Album out on the market, B.B. set was short and sweet. After their set Heidi and Carla met their fans by their merchandise booth. They stayed by the booth until the last fan got a photograph or got a chance to meet them. High praise for the girls who did an improv Meet and Greet.

Hatebreed started their set and the mayhem carried to a boiling point by the front stage area. Not the best area to try to take pictures but the fans were having a great time and the real Hatebreed fans were in fine form with their “Slam Dancing” skills. The Kool Haus wasn’t the best place for sound but the fans didn’t mind with one after another Hatebreed fan body surfing to the front of the stage.

After a long delay to set up Black Label Society, the big banner was dropped and the fans went into a frenzy. The former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist was a perfect fit for the last Rock show at The Kool Haus as he gave the fans what they wanted-Straight ahead Rock N’ Roll. The last time B.L.S. was in town was at The Molson Amp. Theatre and they were one of the opening acts. Toronto has a huge infatuation with Zakk Wylde and his band so the world tour should bring them back here for a possible summer show. Zakk always the “Viking” of the ship is still a guitar virtuoso ! Yes the usually guitar solo were performed but Zakk is an “A” list guitarist and he showed his stature during the show on Thursday night leaving the fans happy to be at the very last Rock show at the historical Kool Haus.
