Each year, the JUNO Awards recognizes Canadian music artists. This year’s show has an exciting lineup of nominees, performers, and events throughout JUNO week. JUNO week starts March 9, and culminates with the awards ceremony in Hamilton Place on March 15.
The press release was hosted at the Casbah. The JUNO announcements were followed by a performance by local talent, 2013 JUNO award winner and 2015 JUNO award nominee, Steve Strongman. The bluesman started on the harmonica before breaking into the slide guitar, playing to the crowd.
Who you’ll find during JUNO week festivities are FRED PENNER, IAN THORNLEY, LIGHTS, MATT ANDERSEN, and EMMANUEL JAL, They will be found at the JUNO songwriters’ circle stage. It will be an intimate performance taking place on Sunday, March 15 at Hamilton Place. The JUNO Cup with feature Canada’s game on the ice, with artists like Sam Roberts, beard Guy, Casey Laforet pitted against Wendel Clark and Gary Leeman. Other events include JUNO Fan Fare showcasing Joel Plaskett, Del Barber, Teenage Head and Your Favourite Enemies.
Additional events not to be missed include the JUNO Photography Exhibit, JUNO Tour of Canadian Art, Turn It Off SoundOFF, Francophone Singer Songwriter Circle, Sirius XM JUNO Awards Kickoff, Francophone Tinta “Mall” Parade, Francophone and Aboriginal Pop-Up Show, Turn It On Music Crawl, Soiree Canadienne-Francaise, and JUNOfest. All of these events occur throughout venues in Hamilton, and many are free of charge.
