Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience-Thurs.,May 21st,2015@Casino Rama
The Jason Bonham Experience and his band mates arrived at the Casino Rama stage to a standing ovation. Immediately upon arrival the band opened the set with “The Song Remains The Same” which got the crowd off their seats and pumped up.
The set was impressive, with the band doing a respectful tribute to one of the greatest bands in any age.
As Bonham explained during the set, the act wasn’t meant as a tribute. It was meant as homage, as his way of letting the world know what he thought of his father. Bonham also lead into a set of his favourite Led Zeppelin tunes that he always loved to play during a concert or on his own.
Guitarist Tony Catania did Jimmy Page proud, even playing a red double neck guitar — back in Zeppelin’s “Celebration Days”, Page was loud, virtuostic, and full of innovative energy
Vocalist James Dylan did an admirable job of replicating Plant’s vocal stylings — a highlight was his rendition of “All Of My Love” from LP “In Through The Outdoor”.
Bassist Dorian Heartsong reproduced John Paul Jones perfectly on stage, without being too flashy. Also putting in a great performance was Gary Hood, the band’s tour manager, who played the harp during their rendition of “When the Levee Breaks.”
Jason Bonham put on a thundering performance, reminiscing stories past of his father John Bonham against the stage backdrop of home made family film reels.
Th entire night was indeed a heartfelt message of one of the great bands and especially one of the great drumming masters of our time.
