The 4th Annual McMichael Canadian Art Collection Moonlight Gala Part 2@ McMichael Gallery (June 6, 2015)
Under the starlit night sky amidst the northern scent of majestic soaring pines The 4th Annual McMichael Canadian Art Collection’s signature fundraiser Moonlight Gala 2015 graced the town of Kleinburg on a beautiful early-summer evening.
The Moonlight Gala brings together an unforgettable evening of food, drink and entertainment under the stars and within the prestigious McMichael gallery itself.
Like the beautiful pieces housed in McMichael, the food options were equally artistic: included chocolate scented boneless beef short rib with cauliflower puree and crisp polenta; a trio of strip loin with duck fat mash potatoes; wild mushroom risotto; tiger shrimp prepared while you waited; pan seared black cod with an arugula hazelnut pesto and a seashell pasta stuffed with lobster just to name a few artistic epicurean creations.
While guests enjoyed the signature cocktails, wines, beers and spirits there were also tasty bites being passed around: crab pops, ceviche, and maple sake salmon were just a few.
CTV’s Beverly Thomson hosted the event, and Jay Mandarino presided over the live auction.
Live music throughout the night was headlined by jazz artist Amanda Martinez. Steve Paikin and Sophie Milman were in attendance to support the McMichael Canadian Art Collection as well as Honorary Patrons Catherine Nugent and Jeanne Becker.
The McMichael Canadian Art Gallery is the only major gallery in Canada that collects only Canadian art. Its permanent collection, consists of artworks by The Group of Seven, Tom Thomson, and other Canadian artists.
Gourmet desserts were provided by Dolcini , but if attendees were looking for something a little more ‘grounded’ — a New York Fries truck with burgers and fries and late night pizza were also available.
Some of the event sponsors included:
Hatch, Deloitte Merit Travel, RBC, Td, CIBC, Crowe Soberman, Air Canada, Lindt, Dolcini, Aura, South Street Burger, New York Fries and Steam Whistle.
