ALESSIA COHLE “LET’S GET GONE” ALBUM RELEASE PARTY @ Boots and Bourbon (June 24, 2015)

Words: HUMSandy

As one country icon embarked on her “Farewell Tour” at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre (Timmin’s native Shania Twain), another was just beginning down the street…

Country music newcomer Alessia Cohle debut her new album “Let’s Get Gone” to a packed intimate saloon of music fans, media, music execs and friends+family.

Backed by a ‘rockin’ 5-piece live band, Alessia started her set appropriately enough with Shania’s “Man I Feel Like A Woman”, then onward to a song off her debut LP “My Exception“.
As a newcomer to contemporary country music, it was a relief (and equal epiphany) that Alessia & Bandmates commanded the stage like a well-honed veteran live act tearing into a blistering set of well-curated material.
Alessia’s new material from “Let’s Get Gone” blended perfectly into her set list, with first single “Sunday Shoes” and album title track “Let’s Get Gone” exhibiting ‘anthemic’ crowd sing-a-long chorus qualities that will sure to be crowd favourites in the near future.
The Album release party was also a perfect occasion to showcase Alessia’s work with the Autism Speaks Canada charity, in conjunction with Steve’s Music Store, a acoustic guitar was raffled off (the author disappointedly was approx. 10 tickets away from winning “darn it”) for the worthwhile cause.
Along with original material, Alessia’s covers of Bon Jovi’s “Who Says You Can’t Get Home” and Dave Letterman favourite Canadian Tom Cochrane’s (then Rascal Flat covered) “Life is a Highway” showed Alessia was more then confident to take ownership and make the material her own.
As she continues her rise into the country music stratosphere, it won’t be long before Alessia becomes a new addition to an exclusive group of one name musicians (like that singer from Timmins)…
