William Shakespeare, A Midsummers Night’s Dream

The legendary annual Playboy’s Midsummer Night’s Dream Party at the residence of Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion weaved it’s magic spell again for one summer night.

Celebrities in attendance included: Brody Jenner (DJ-ing), “Hef’s” wife Crystal Hefner and son Cooper, comedian Bill Maher, Chris Harrison (The Bachelor), paparazzi favourite Amber Rose, and the usual mix of sports celebrities.

Some of the notable Playboy Playmates that graced the annual event included: Hiromi Oshima, Carly Lauren, Kayla Rae Reid, Shannon James,  Kendra Wilkinson, The Dahm Triplets, Kristen Nicole and Monica Sims.

As a regular attendee of the Mansion events, I am still awestruck by the mystique that the Mansion holds, as well as the exterior features such as the grounds, game-room, and infamous grotto. Cooper Hefner was seen mingling in the crowd, unfortunately his legendary father was no where to be found.

One thing that has always impressed me (believe it or not) about Mansion events is the caliber of food and beverages available, from juicy, dry-aged prime roast, impeccable-produced sushi to scrumptious, decadent desserts that can compete with any 5-star hotel in Los Angeles.

As with tradition, lingerie for the ladies and pyjamas for the men were mandatory requirements, though as the night progressed you can imagine the dress code became more ‘lax’.

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
Nor shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thou grow’st.
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

William Shakespeare, Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? (Sonnet 18)
