America In Concert@CNE Bandshell(Fri.,Aug.21st,2015)

The traditional CNE opened up their 137th season with one the most recognizable rock/pop band in the world-“America”! It was a full house at the CNE Bandshell with very a vocal audience listening to their greatest hits.

Sister Golden Hair, Ventura Highway, Horse With No Name, Tin Man, You Can Do Magic and I Need you! were just some of their hits they performed during the concert on Friday night. America is a rock band, formed in England in 1970 by multi-instrumentalists Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley. The trio first met as sons of U.S. Air Force personnel stationed in London, where they began performing live. America achieved popularity in the 1970s, and was famous for the trio’s close vocal harmonies and light acoustic folk sound. This popularity was confirmed by a string of hit albums and singles, many of which found airplay on pop/soft rock stations. Now a dual with Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, the audience were on their feet singing, dancing and jumping around. It may not be the 70’s but the crowd mostly from the generation remembered all the words and the traditional opening night of the CNE brought back fond memories of yesterday past.
