Paul McCartney”Out There Tour 2015″@ACC(Sat.,Oct.17th,2015)

Sir Paul McCartney is probably the most decorated, influential, well known, and well respected musicians of all time. His live show as well as his catalog of music showcases his fifty plus years as a icon in the “pop culture” and a musical wizard of the many generations of fans.
The concert was a 3 hours festival of his greatest hits for his adoring fans on a Saturday night. Some of the younger fans appreciated the Kayne West/Rhianna/McCartney song “45 Seconds” but overall the set list was right on target.
McCartney has been releasing solo material steadily since 1980. And many of his well known songs were performed with his band “Wings” which included songs performed tonight: Hi,Hi,Hi,Band On The Run(which showcased a short film on the making of the album cover of the same name) and the James Bond theme song To Live And Let Die. McCartney showed his pyrotechnic skills as the firebombs during To Live And Let Die rival the best of the best and bands such as Motley Crue, Kiss and Poison would have been very proud.

A lot of Beatles material was performed at the concert but for the show he had to omit some songs. Some of the noted omitted songs were Please,Please Me, Penny Lane and Venus+Mars. Paul McCartney does not disappoint, with close to 80% of the setlist coming from the historical 13 studio LP’s released by the band between the mid-60’s to 1970’s. The setlist is a great mix of Beatles, Wings and his solo music performed by the legendary frontman. But he also paid homage to some of his great friends and mates. There were great stories on Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, John Lennon, George Harrison and Linda McCartney.

McCartney performed a couple of Beatles songs for every solo or Wings track. He played the biggest 10 hits or so of Beatles songs that are what the fans want at every show. Some of these include “Hey Jude,” “Paperback Writer,” “Let it Be,” “The Long and Winding Road,” and “Helter Skelter” among many others.

In the end he didn’t disappoint fans with two encores and a live Scottish pipe band from Port Dover, Ontario who joined him on stage for”Mull of Kintyre” The fans were creative in their signage for the concert and McCartney didn’t disappoint two groups of creative fans by bringing them up on stage for a small meet and greet. Three hours of history for fans of the iconic McCartney as he ended the show waving the Union Jack and the Canadian flag. A legion of fans leaving the arena were heard saying “Wow that was amazing” it was more than “amazing” it was a journey and Sir Paul showed us what it is like to really appreciate music.
