Chair Affair@The International Centre(Fri.,Oct.30th,2015)

Since 1998 and founded by Sister Anne Schenck, Furniture Bank has collected and provided over 300,000 items of furniture to over 60,000 people. Gently used furniture and household goods donated by individuals and corporations to people who are in need of a new start. The fleet of trucks are on the road throughout the year, picking up furniture from donors and delivering items to individuals in need. The Furniture Bank operates in a 30,000 sq.ft. outlet in south Etobicoke, which is a furniture showroom for clients to sect furniture items.

The International Centre hosted this year’s Chair Affair gala and charity auction on Friday, October 30th, 2015. Chair Affair is Furniture Bank’s signature fundraising event and people attending had the opportunity to bid on chairs and other furniture items. All proceeds from the event go towards Furniture Bank and help individuals with their shelter needs.
Chair Affair an annual auction based gala and fundraiser which teams up with prominent artists and designers to redesign old chairs, with all proceeds going towards the underprivileged and charity.
The event was organized by Furniture Bank, a Toronto based charity that transfers gently used furniture and household goods donated by individuals & corporations, to people in need of a new start.
Furniture Bank operates across the GTA area picking up furniture and houseware with a removal service of five trucks on the road all year round, delivering items that clients select directly to their homes.
The clients include:the formerly homeless, women and children escaping abusive situations, and newcomer families and refugees.
The gala event included: Different stations positioned all across the hall , a chance to win a door prize, A live auction run by Celebrity MC and Auctioneer: Graham Chittenden. Also on hand to support the MC duties were: Olivia Chow(Former Member Of Parliament), Carson Arthur(Design&Lifestyle Expert), Trevor Lui(International Centre), Sandra Rinomato(HGTV Host), Diva(Female Illusionist) and Erin McCoy(Real Estate Talk Show)
