The Hotline Always Blings Twice@The Second City MainStage 51 Mercer Street (Wed.,March23rd,2016).
PRODUCTION PHOTOGRAPHY BY RACHEAL MCCAIG and CAST PHOTOGRAPHY BY DAVID LEYES
We were invited to The Second City presentation of the 77th Mainstage Revue The Hotline Always Blings Twice where nothing is sacred and the sketches are hilarious as the Mainstage cast members use satirical social commentary to skewer everyday subjects such as: Justin Trudeau, Uber Vs.Beck Cabs, binge-watching, Selfie Sticks, and the Blue Jays bandwagon. My person favourite skits were the Justin Trudeau skit done in the style of a Drake video with Justin showing his “Hip” in “Hip Hop” and the Uber Vs. Beck Cabs skit done in the style of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca.
The audience were treated to an added bonus after the show with some improv skits. With the participation of the audience yelling out the topics to be sketched by The Second City Troop. The Hotline Always Blings Twice opened up on March 22, 2016 for an extended engagement The Hotline Always Blings Twice is an all-new comedy show in the legendary tradition of The Second City with a night of unforgettable characters, funny sketches and ridiculous rants.
The Hotline Always Blings Twice is created and performed by The Second City Toronto Mainstage cast members Leigh Cameron, Kyle Dooley, Becky Johnson, Etan Muskat, Kirsten Rasmussen and Kevin Whalen. The 77th Mainstage Revue is directed by The Second City alumnus Chris Earle, and assistant to the director Karen Parker.
