TASTE MATTERS-In Support Of Eva’s Initiatives-@Liberty Grand(Thurs.,Sept.22nd,2016)
Taste Matters is a feast of delectable delights that brings together Toronto’s finest food and beverage in support of homeless and at-risk youth. The goal is to reach the goal of $150,000 to provide shelter and new opportunities for youth living at Eva’s!
This year’s host was Celebrity Chef David Rocco, co-creator and host of David Rocco’s Dolce Vita and David Rocco’s Dolce India
Toronto is the home of world class cuisine culture and some of the world’s best chefs, vintners and brew masters. Toronto also prides itself in civic action, where community rallies together to stand up for those who need a great start in life, and sometimes a second chance.
TasteMatters 2016 in support of Eva’s Initiatives http://www.evasinitiatives.com/ celebrating over 20 years of creating opportunities for homeless youths. Eva’s Initiatives works locally and nationally to prevent, reduce and end youth homelessness.
Taste Matters funds a 40-bed emergency shelter safe shelter for 114 youth, age 16 to 24, each night in Toronto. In Toronto, there are at least 10,000 young people who are homeless throughout the year and as many as 2,000 on a given night. , for homeless youth ages 16-24 years. Eva’s Place provides young people with the supports they need to return home or to transition to appropriate housing in the community.
Since they opened their doors in 1994, Eva’s Place has helped over 19,000 youth. Not only does Eva’s place provide a safe space for homeless and at-risk youth, it also offers a wide variety of programs that help youth with everything from finding a job, to essential life skills.
Taste Matters was definitely a one-of-a-kind annual evening that brought together talent, skill and expertise in sublime food and drink to raise funds and support for the homeless and at-risk youth of Toronto. We joined Eva’s Initiatives as we celebrated the experience of taste and hope for a better future.
Taste Matters is a wonderful way to give back to the community and help youth who rely on the essential services that Eva’s Initiatives offers. The room was filled with foodies and wine connoisseurs on a budget enjoying a delicious one-night sampling tour of some of Toronto’s best wine, craft beer, and desserts. All while helping to raise money for Eva’s Initiatives.
The evening included: Food and drink from over 30 food hosts and vendors.
Delicious desserts and treats surrounded the Liberty Grand on Thursday night.
Patrons bid on great items and experiences the live and silent auctions.
Food and Beverage Hosts include: Aria Ristorante, Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company, Brickworks Ciderhouse, The Chef Upstairs, Corby Spirit and Wine Limited, Cibo Wine Bar, DAVIDsTEA, De La Mer and Oysters XO, Eva’s youth residents, Fonda Lola Mexican Bistro, Gargoyle, Holy Cannoli Shells and Cream, Kacaba Vineyards and Winery, Kennedy Catering, Mill Street Brewery, North 44 Catering, Olive Oil Boutique, R&D Restaurant, Rancho Relaxo, Redstone/Tawse Winery, Revitasize, Side Launch Brewing Company, Steam Whistle Brewery, and Zelcovia Cookies/cookiedelivery.ca.
The evening included: a photo booth, ice Sculpture, beautiful flower decorations, a DJ to keep the patrons on the dance floor and amazing auction items. A great night to celebrate a great cause of giving homeless youths the opportunity to live a normal life. We look forward to next year’s edition of TasteMatters 2017.
