Canadian soldiers who have proudly served our country have been there for us. And for their valued service, the Military Casualty Support Foundation (MCFS) has been there for them. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the MCFS, who kicked off this milestone with the “Salute the Troops” Variety Show at the International Centre in Mississauga, on Sat Feb 11.
Hosted and emceed by standout actor and comedian Sean Cullen, along with the support of GTA community leaders, local celebrity talent, entertainers, and the evening’s sponsors, this charity gala honoured the wartime tradition with a 1940’s USO themed extravaganza; from big band music to celebrity tribute performances of such legends as Marilyn Munroe and Charlie Chaplin.
Over the last decade the Military Casualty Support Foundation raised $600,000 in support of the veterans and their families, with the goal of $100,000 this year. In addition to financial aid, the MCFS provides assistance with medical care, psychiatric counselling, children & spousal aid, and improving quality of life with support aids like accessibility chairs for those who suffered permanent injuries in the line of duty.
For all our veterans have done for us, it is an honour to give back to them in recognition of their selfless valor, as the MCFS will continue to be there for them and the next generation of brave soldiers that will be next to serve.
