The 6th Annual Moonlight Gala @McMichael Gallery-Saturday, June 3rd, 2017
The yearly trip to Kleinberg, Ontario is well worth it, as we attended The 6th annual McMichael Canadian Art Collection’s. This is the premier fundraiser and this year’s event was another fabulous evening under the stars, a night with ambiance unlike any other.
Upon arrival, we were treated to a glass of wine and as we strolled down the candle-lit path , we encountered some amazing savoury delicacies and then we arrived at the spectacular open-air Stoney terrace where moon-lit soiree was being held.
The Moonlight Gala celebrates the connection between art and nature with an inspired menu of abundant gourmet cuisine and awarding-winning Ontario wines. Under the stars and amongst the soaring pines of the McMichael, guests feel transported to a place hidden away in the midst of the city. Created for only 500 guests, this one-of-a-kind event, featuried captivating live entertainment. Besides a live DJ, the patrons were treated to a live acoustic set featuring the top Canadian guitarist in this country. Former guitarist for Canadian iconic rock band “Triumph”, Rik Emmett was one of the six guitarist on stage. Also on hand to perform was Dave Dunlop, Calum Graham, Brooke Miller,Don Ross and Emma Rush. Montreal’s Rhapsody Orchestra with it’s 13 piece orchestra, had the audience off their seats and dancing their their unique style of disco, rock and pop music. It was a great night of music and it featured “The Group Of Seven Guitar Project”, who played an ensemble performance of Grit Laskin’s Guitarmaket, and it was followed by a solo performance by Laskin singing -If You Want to Change the World. The ensemble includes:Sergei de Jonge, William”Grit” Laskin,Linda Manzer, Tony Duggan-Smith and David Wren.
Guests were treated to a silent/live auction, a cigar station, multiple food stations, Caesar Bar, Coffee Bar, Scotch station and a candy station to close off the night. It was a great evening for a great cause and we look forward to Moonlight Gala 2018 at The Mcmichael Gallery.
