Driftwood Theatre and The Bard’s Bus Tour Presents”The Cyprus Project and Othello”-July 26- Aug. 1,201
Travelling across Ontario, The Driftwood Theatre and their Bard’s Bus Tour who have been making the rounds for a few years now, will be hitting 27 communities this year, eventually returning to Toronto for 6 outdoor performances across the city (July 26- Aug 1). All of the shows are free or PWYC and there’s a “pre-show” of sorts called “The Cyprus Project” that accompanies every performance. With the Cyprus War of 1974 as the setting for their version of Othello, The Driftwood Theatre brings a unique interpretive vision to Shakespeare’s play that shouldn’t be missed.
“The Cyprus Project, a special audio installation presented prior to all performances of Othello, is a collection of individual first hand accounts surrounding the Cyprus war of 1974, shedding light on the personal consequences of international conflicts, as well as Canada’s important role as peacekeepers engaged in this, one of the longest overseas missions in our country’s history.”
