Dixonlicious @ Regent Park, Toronto (Mar. 1, 2018)
On March 1st, Dixon Hall celebrated it’s annual gala fundraiser “Dixonlicious” and it was the most successful yet! They raised over $80,000 to provide 20,000 meals to some of the community’s most vulnerable.
The evening’s host was Farah Nasser from Global News and took place at Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park, in support of the food programs in the downtown East. Through all the different areas of work and populations, food is the constant. Their food programs touch the lives of many, with hot meals served via Meals on Wheels to isolated seniors in the community, to nutritious and energizing snacks during summer and March break camps for youth in Regent Park, and life-sustaining meals provided for Toronto’s homeless men and women in their two shelters and through the Out of the Cold program. Delicious restaurants like Biff’s Bistro, Barrio, Daniel et Daniel, Paintbox Bistro, Hooked, The Food Dudes, Hawthorne Food & Drink, Longo’s, Skin + Bones, Vegan Stokes Cheese, and their very own Show Love Café served up signature bites, while guests enjoyed wine, beer, spirit, and fresh juices from Lost Craft Brewing, Brickworks Ciderhouse, Karlo Estate Winery, SoCIAL Lite Vodka, Walter Craft Caesar, and Freshed Right.
The evening finished off with some sweet treats – not only dessert, but the chance to bid on unique items and one-of-a-kind experiences in both silent and live auctions, while the musical guest, Matt Morgan Trio serenaded us with soulful sounds.
All proceeds support their food programs including Meals on Wheels, Children and Youth Programs, Summer Camp, Homeless Shelter Programs, Out of the Cold, AIDS Programs and more.
