By Sally Warburton
Friday, October 18, 2019 was an exciting night at Ricarda’s event space in Toronto. Filled with CAMH employees, supporters and guests to support CAMH. CAMH Engage is an annual fundraiser Gala.
Scientists compete for the $10,000 award selected by vote from the guests in attendance. Who were the 3 finalists in the Breakthrough Challenge? Dr. Isabelle Boileau Clinical Research Scientist CAMH, Dr. Thomas Prevot Project Scientist CAMH and Dr. Jeffrey Wardell Independent Scientist CAMH. Using the EventMobi voting app, guests voted for Dr. Thomas Prevot with his research on Alzheimers and depression.
Deborah Gillis President & CEO CAMH Foundation & Dan O’Shaunghnessy Director CAMH Foundation Board in addition to Co-Chairs CAMH Engage Alexander McIsaac and Meghann Fraser welcomed the guests. The Breakthrough Challenge Co-Chairs Maria Wells and Nick Xiang joined everyone in celebrating these CAMH research scientists’ excellent achievements.
Ricarda’s is a beautiful venue – a gorgeous atrium apart from the restaurant easily accessible by TTC in central downtown Toronto. DJ music setting the scene, beautiful flowers, delicious canopés, hors d’oeuvre, bars with wide selections of drinks, vendors, fun photobooth. It was a fantastic evening. No detail was left out. Everyone had a good time. For a great cause. Mental Health.
It was an evening to celebrate with these brilliant minds from CAMH. A time to reflect on the importance of our mental health, research and funding. A time to celebrate! Look out for this event in 2020!
We would like to thank Karen Cleveland of CAMH for the invitation to this event.
