Taste Matters 2019 – The 25th Anniversary Fundraiser for Eva’s Initiatives For Homeless Youth-Tues., November 5, 2019
By Sally Warburton
Held at the Atrium in the Queen Richmond Centre West, Toronto.
A wonderful environment of people all togther to support Eva’s Initiatives. Eva’s Initiatives is not only a shelter for young people but its focus is on their physical, emotional and nutritional needs – to prepare youth for independence and to thrive in the community.
In the beautiful spacious venue there were food sampling stations – vegan, vegetarian, doughnuts, desserts, salads, Tibetan dumplings, great wine, craft brews, fresh-pressed beverages.
Our host for the evening was Chef Myles Chaulk himself a former Eva’s Place youth. Chef Chaulk is living proof of the success of Eva’s Place
Impact Speaker Shequita Thomson shared her joy of working with youth at Eva’s Initiatives. Culinary guest, serving his classic Caribbean dishes, was Andre Bhagwandat Top 2 finalist in CTV’s Masterchef Canada Season 6!
There was an exciting silent auction with Raptors tickets, Leafs jersey, jewelry, restaurant vouchers and more. Live auction experience for the bigger items such as a weekend away at a luxury cottage, sports tickets and travel. There was a unique fundraiser called the ‘Bracelet Game’ with purchased Eva’s bracelets for $25 allowed entry to the heads or tails game! The lucky winner won a trip anywhere in North America for two people!
Over $175,000 was raised for Eva’s! A wonderful evening with friendly people in a beautiful venue – all thankful, supportive and enjoying the fundraiser for Eva’s Initiatives 25th anniversary year. It was an event not to be missed!
We would like to thank Kay Layne from Eva’s Communications for the invitation to this event.
