The Salvation Army Presents Christmas In The Square & Toy Mountain Kick Off @Yonge Dundas Square– Friday, November 29, 2019
By Sally Warburton
Yonge Dundas Square was filled with brave souls – people who were freezing cold but whose hearts were warmed by the beautiful music, dancing and overall feeling of happiness created by Juno award winning R & B artist MC Dru and all the young people who performed on stage.
Live entertainment started at 5:30pm and continued until just after 8pm. To begin the evening CTV news was live on stage with Ken Shaw and Michelle Dubé with surprise guest Prime Minister Justin Trudeau!
After the live news interview about Salvation Army’s Toy Mountain, Trudeau came off stage and greeted choir members, took selfies and spoke to a few very happy audience members.
The Ontario Central East Divisional Youth Choir, Jade’s Hip Hop Academy and Star School Performing Arts and Music Academy were all brilliant. There is a lot of creative, musical talent in these young people! And the wardrobe people had dressed them all perfectly looking very festive and warm for the weather!
The whole evening on stage was so wonderfully organized, so entertaining and so very, very cold!! But we all were dressed warmly and enjoyed every second!
Audience members were warmed up with hot chocolate and Krispy Kreme donuts provided by Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army kettles were on hand for donations. The Salvation Army has helped people for over 130 years with social and community services equally available without discrimination.
We would like to thank Sasha Stoltz for the invitation to this event.
